100% – RESPONSIBILITIES: An employee in this class performs specialized firefighting and emergency medical duties under emergency conditions. Work is performed under the direct supervision of superior officers but requires a thorough individual understanding of firefighting methods and emergency medical procedures. The employee is responsible for assisting in the maintenance of fire and emergency medical equipment, response apparatus, and crew quarters. Performance is evaluated by the department officers’ observation.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
QUALIFICATIONS – Must be at least 18 years of age by the application deadline, have a High School diploma or G.E.D. and be Kansas or National Registry EMT, AEMT or Paramedic. Paramedic preferred but not required. Upon completion of the LDCFM Fire Academy, if the employee does not have a Paramedic certification they will be required to obtain their Paramedic certification within three years (3) of their hire date. Paramedic school tuition/books will be paid in full by LDCFM. Must possess a valid Candidate Physical Abilities Test (CPAT) issued by 09/21/20 (Upon acceptance of contingent job offer, all final candidates must be able to provide copies of required EMT, AEMT or Paramedic certification. This position requires a valid operator’s license with a qualifying driving record, and the ability to obtain a Class B or equivalent license within six (6) months of employment. Must demonstrate mental and physical health as required by the position, and have an excellent work history and attendance record as determined by the previous employer and other reference checks. Upon contingent offer the candidate will be required to pass a background check, drug screen, psychological evaluation and a post-offer medical evaluation in accordance with the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 1582 chapter 6.1.1. Upon hire, all department employees must sign a ‘No Tobacco Use’ Agreement.

JOB SUMMARY:
Plans, directs, and coordinates the overall operation of the ambulance service to insure safe and effective operation. Supervises ambulance service personnel. Answers emergency calls and makes patient transfers. Administers emergency care to patients in emergency situations.
POSITION:
Position is under the direct supervision of the Woodson County Board of County Commissioners.JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
• Education: High School graduate or equivalent.
• Personal Job-Related Skills: Leadership and management abilities. Effective verbal and written communication skills. Familiarity with operation of emergency medical vehicles and equipment. Ability to adhere to hospital, local and state guidelines in delivery of emergency care.
• Licensure, Registry or Certification: Current certification by the Kansas Board of Emergency Medical Services: AEMT – Paramedic Level preferred. ACLS, PALS, NALS and PHTLS are a plus. Current Driver’s License.
• Prior Work Experience: Two years working in an emergency/medical environment. Supervisory experience preferred.
• Physical and Mental Requirements: Duties of the position require intermittent walking, sitting and standing. Bending, stooping, and reaching is required. The lifting, pushing, pulling and carrying of patients with the use of equipment. Some circumstances may require the ability to withstand heights, prolonged distance travel, stress, and hostile environments.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Operation of Emergency Medical Services.
• Directs and supervises subordinates’ performance of duties.
• Hiring, promotions, salary adjustments and disciplinary actions in accordance with salary and personnel policies with approval of Woodson County Commissioners.
• Evaluates individual employee performance.
• Maintains adequate staffing levels and scheduling.
• Collects information and assists as required in processing claims for patients.
• Maintains Quality Assurance records according to hospital and the Texas of Department of Health requirements that coincides with the hospital Quality Assurance Performance Improvement Program.
• Maintains patient care protocols.
• Maintains run review process.
• Develops and implements an in-house CE program.
• Operates emergency vehicles and assures that they are properly maintained.

Russell County EMS is accepting applications for part-time and PRN staff.Applicants must possess a valid Kansas Driver’s License, Kansas EMT/AEMT/Paramedic certification, and current CPR. ALS providers are also required to have ACLS and PALS.RCEMS operates 24-hour shifts from 0800-0800. While there is no minimum number of shifts required per month, part-time staff will generally be expected to work 2-3 shifts per month. Shifts are scheduled based on the availability turned in by the employee, so flexibility in scheduling is provided.

Pottawatomie County Emergency Medical Services (PCEMS) provides full-time advanced life support ambulance service to one of the fastest growing counties in Kansas. PCEMS covers over 800 square miles of diverse territory to include Pottawatomie County within the city limits of Manhattan, KS.Our team members work a “48/96” rotation which enables them to enjoy the opportunity to work 48 hours followed by 96 hours off – then the shift repeats. Pottawatomie County does NOT have a residency requirement for EMS personnel.
