Norton County EMS is accepting applications for AEMT’s and Paramedics.

We are a county government operated EMS service providing basic and advanced life support across 881 square miles. This role responds to medical emergencies, service calls, stand by events, and engages in positive community relationships. Requires safe driving and operation of emergency vehicles. Good communication skills, interpersonal skills, and documentation skills required. Employees perform routine maintenance inspections and other duties as assigned.

Norton County EMS is building a training center of excellence for both initial and continuing education including: EMT, AEMT, PHTLS, AMLS, ACLS, and PALS. Don’t have these certifications? We’ll teach you.

Full time employees must reside in Norton County. Part time employees have no residency requirement. Full time employees typically work 12 hours on station and 12 hours on call following a 2-on, 2-off, 3-on, 2-off, 2-on, 3-off rotation.

Applicant Requirements:
• High school graduate or GED
• Current Kansas EMT or NREMT certification
• Current Basic Life Support certification
• Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification (AEMT/Paramedic)
• Valid class C driver’s license with acceptable driving record
• Basic computer knowledge, including typing 15 wpm
Physical Requirements:
• Must be able to lift, carry, push, pull, and move 100 pounds individually and 200 pounds with assistance
• Must be able to perform fine finger movements in both hands and be able to maneuver and manipulate objects with your fingers
• The position requires sitting, standing, walking, running, climbing, kneeling, bending, stooping, crouching, crawling, and balancing

09/29/2016 Atchison County EMS EMS Director
Atchison County is currently seeking an EMS Director.

This position is responsible for managerial, administrative, supervisory and specialized work functions of the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Department. The Director of Emergency Medical Services oversees operations, provides incident command and on-the scene emergency medical care, monitors activities and coordinates EMS activities with other county departments, municipal agencies and rural fire departments. The Director must possess superb Emotional Intelligence traits; be capable of making life and death decisions at a moment’s notice and when under a great deal of stress, as those decisions may impact the citizens of Atchison County. The employee in this position will ensure the needs of patients, customers and their families comes first to provide high levels of customer satisfaction. Work is performed with a substantial degree of independence within the framework of prescribed policies and procedures and under the general supervision of the County Commission. Employee must resident within thirty minutes of Atchison County EMS Facility- Station 1 within 12 months of employment.

09/29/2016 Topeka Fire Department Firefighter
The Topeka Fire Department is now accepting registration or written test scores from National Testing Network (NTN) for upcoming testing / hiring processes.
Registration deadline for testing is Monday, October 24, 2016; and all written testing must be completed by Monday, October 31, 2016.

All testing is being handled through National Testing Network (NTN) and the test is the FireTeam Firefighter test. The FireTeam test can be taken at multiple locations around the country, including the Topeka test facility. Testing locations can be found at National Testing Network Locations.
Topeka Fire Department will pay for the first time an applicant takes the test, the written examination fee is $50. Upon registration, qualified candidates will be emailed a voucher number to redeem on the NTN website to pay for the examination. Only applicants meeting the age requirement and the EMT requirement will be issued a voucher. The voucher is valid only for the Topeka Fire Department test and is not redeemable for any other department in the NTN network. All unused vouchers expire on November 1, 2016.

Topeka Fire Department Requirements:
– You must be at least 21 years of age
– Must be State of Kansas EMT certified or National Registry EMT certified
– Must have high school diploma or equivalent
– Must not have any automatic disqualifiers
– Must meet city vehicle operation insurability guidelines
