Under the direct supervision of the Board of County Commissioners, this exempt position is responsible for all day-to-day operations of EMS as well as other administrative duties as prescribed by County and State Statutes, Policies, and Regulations. The Director is first in command in any administrative or patient situation. The EMS Director performs all scope of practice functions as to their level of attendant certification. Provides Advanced Life Support including medical evaluation, treatment and stabilization of the critically ill and injured; responds to emergency rescue situations involving potential loss of life or bodily injury; maintains control, manages and directs patient care at the scene of a pre-hospital emergency; provides training and instruction to lesser trained personnel; performs other duties as required. The position is located in the Clay County Kansas Emergency Medical Service (EMS) system.

EMS Director must live within Clay County Kansas, have a valid Kansas Driver’s License, and current Kansas EMS Certification at AEMT or Paramedic (Paramedic Preferred). Must have at a minimum 5 years of active EMS service and 3 years of EMS Supervision.

Osage County EMS (OCEMS) is accepting applications for FT and PT EMT, AEMT, and Paramedics. The City of Great Bend has full-time FF/EMS openings. If you have been searching for a rewarding, hands-on career, now is the time to apply! This position responds to emergency situations including fires, persons trapped, hazardous conditions, and medical emergencies. This position will also inspect equipment daily, conduct safety training for the community, inspects fire hydrants, and completes all necessary training.

After completion of the training period, this position will work 24-hour shifts. Weekend and holiday work is required. Firefighters are expected to respond to major emergency calls when off duty.

Aptitude and physical tests and background investigations will be conducted and after the interview process for qualified candidates, job offers will be contingent on pre-employment physical ability testing and drug screening.

The requirements of the position are as follows: Valid Kansas driver’s license, high school diploma or GED is required and as well as training as an EMT, Paramedic and/or Fire Science. Pottawatomie County EMS is expanding its coverage area and will be adding 58 square miles of coverage area which will encompass all of the county including areas inside the city limits of Manhattan. We will be expecting an annual call volume over 2,000 calls a year and operating out of 5 separate stations. This action will include new personnel (six full time positions). We are looking for Paramedic’s, AEMT, and EMT’s to join our team! We also are always looking for part time staff!

These position(s) work a 48/96 rotation. Enjoy the opportunity to work 48 hours followed by 96 hours off – then the shift repeats. Pottawatomie County does NOT have a residency requirement for EMS personnel. Pottawatomie County EMS currently has 4 stations and will be opening a 5th station, located throughout the county. PCEMS provides 911 and non-emergent response and transports. We have also have taken delivery of a new Type 1 Ambulance and will have the delivery of 2 type II units in May.
