05/10/2016 Franklin County Emergency Medical Technician
This position meets all the requirements set forth by the Kansas Board of EMS for the position of EMT. The EMT is expected to meet the urgent health care needs of all patients regardless of age or co-morbidity, consistent with their defined scope of practice. The EMT is a unique healthcare professional in that they provide medical care and transportation in and out-of-hospital settings with medical oversight. Therefore the EMT must be able to exercise considerable judgment, problem solving, and decision making skills. The EMT provides out-of-hospital medical care to those with urgent needs, and is a component of the overall healthcare system. Work is performed under general supervision of the EMS Chief, Assistant Chief, and/or Battalion Chief who reviews work methods and results through reports and inspections.

Salary Range: $10.82 to $15.45 per hour depending on qualifications

Hours: Rotating Shifts, evenings, weekends, holidays are required. Overtime may be required.

High School Diploma or GED required. Six to twelve months related experience or training required. Valid EMT certification issued by the Kansas Board of EMS required. Valid Driver’s license required. CPR/BLS certification required. Employee is expected to have acquired the necessary skills and knowledge to perform at an acceptable level within six months of being awarded the position.

Thomas County EMS is accepting applications for Paramedics, AEMTs, or EMTs to fill staff vacancies as well as establish a pool for future vacancies or positions. Licensed EMT candidates wishing employment with Thomas County EMS should be willing to enroll in and complete AEMT or Paramedic training at the earliest opportunity. Additional preference will be given to applicants who possess I/C or TO certification in the State of Kansas.

Thomas County is located 50 miles from Colorado and 50 miles from Nebraska on the high plains of western Kansas. Thomas County EMS covers 1000 square miles with a type 2A system that generates 700+ calls per year with three stations. You will be working in a combination career/volunteer system responding to both 911 and inter-facility transfers. We seek highly motivated persons who enjoy, and are comfortable with, patient care situations which may extend up to 3 hours.

Thomas County EMS shifting is moving to a 24 on, 48 off, 16 on, 72 off model. Additional call hours outside of regular shifting as well as inter-facility transfers and standbys provide an opportunity for overtime. Salary is commensurate with experience. KPERS, Health and Dental (single 100% paid) and vacation earned at 8 hours per month round out the benefit package. In house continuing education

Mitchell County EMS is located in Beloit, KS and covers the citizens and visitors of Mitchell County with two stations; one in Beloit and the other in Cawker City. MCEMS is a progressive type 2A service with type 1 capabilities. We are looking to add energetic, dynamic, and kinetic type attendants to our roster for part-time and PRN opportunities. The right person will be KS certified and in good standing with KSBEMS.

MCEMS is adding to our roster and will consider EMT, AEMT, or EMT-P to help fill in when needed. Some repeating shifts are available for the right candidate, due to current scheduling. ACLS, PALS, AMLS, and PHTLS preferred, but not mandatory and preference will be given to TO’s that are willing to invest into the future educational goals of MCEMS.

Current KS Certification and DL are required. There is no residency requirement for these positions.
