The City of Cherryvale is accepting applications for Firefighter/AEMT/EMT or Paramedic. The duties of this position include, but are not limited to: response to fire, hazardous conditions, technical rescue and medical emergencies, participation in fire code enforcement and inspections, supervised drills and training in firefighting and EMS skills with the opportunity to instruct, maintenance of equipment and apparatus, routine care of building and grounds, and public safety education activities.

This full-time position requires a High School or GED diploma and minimum of Kansas EMT certification. Firefighter 1 certification is preferred, but not required at time of employment. Firefighter 1 certification will be obtained within the first year of employment. Candidates must be at least eighteen (18) years of age and possess a valid Kansas Driver’s License. Candidates must have a clean driving record, with no drug or alcohol related violations, and no disqualifying criminal histories.

Successful candidates will work 24/48 shift, must be willing to meet residency requirements within six (6) months of employment, and complete a pre-employment medical examination, background check, and drug screen. Position Responsibilities: Employee assists in the day-to-day operations and general administration of the Pottawatomie County Emergency Medical Services (EMS). Helps to plans, organize, coordinate, and evaluate functioning of the ambulance service. Supervises full- and part-time staff in order to ensure consistent high-quality care. Assistant Director is a working member of the staff and is responsible for daily coverage, emergency responses, and call coverage. Employee shall possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills and independent decision making ability.

Education/Experience: Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a degree in medical science or a related field is preferred. Five (5) years’ advanced life support required. Experience in administration or management preferred. Any equivalent combination of training and experience that provides the knowledge, skills and abilities may be considered. Must be certified by the Kansas Board of Emergency Medical Services (KSBEMS) as a paramedic in good standing throughout employment. Must be BLS provider certified from the American Heart Association (AHA) upon employment and maintain throughout employment. Must have or obtain within 180 days of employment and maintain throughout employment certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support, plus Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) or Emergency Pediatric Care (EPC).

Pottawatomie County EMS is expanding its coverage area and will be adding 58 square miles of coverage area which will encompass all of the county including areas inside the city limits of Manhattan (nearly 900 square miles. We will be expecting an annual call volume over 2,000 calls a year and operating out of 5 separate stations. PCEMS has immediate opening for paramedic’s and will consider AEMT as well. Immediate Opening(s). We also are looking for part time staff!
These position(s) work a 48/96 rotation. Enjoy the opportunity to work 48 hours followed by 96 hours off – then the shift repeats. Pottawatomie County does NOT have a residency requirement for EMS personnel. Coffey County EMS, a division of Coffey Health System, is accepting applications for the position of full-time AEMT. We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated individual to join our team. CCEMS is a progressive, hospital based, Type 1 service that runs approximately 1600 calls per year out of 1 station. We have no on call policy or living restrictions. CCEMS works 48/96 schedule.

The qualified applicant must have good communication skills and work well with a variety of health care professionals. Our Flight Paramedic is responsible for the safety of patients prior to and during transport to medical care facilities. This includes provision of basic as well as advanced life support and critical care measures required to stabilize the critically ill or injured patient. This position requires proficiency in critical care and knowledge of the interventions necessary for patient management in the aircraft/ambulance and during transport/flight. The Flight Paramedic must also be familiar with aircraft operating procedures and safety practices. The ability to establish positive interpersonal and professional relationships is essential.
Qualifications
• Three years recent paramedic experience in a busy 911 system and/or critical care setting
• Current Paramedic licensue in the state(s) served by the assigned program
• Nationally Registered Paramedic (within 6 months of hire date).
• BCLS, ACLS, PALS certification
• PHTLS, ITLS, ATLS, or TPATC
• Must adhere to all OSHA requirements
• Current driver’s license (EVOC if operating a company emergency response vehicle)

Preferred
• Instructor certifications (BLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP, TPATC)
• Previous air medical/critical care transport experience
• EVOC or CEVO (if not, will be provided prior to operating an emergency vehicle)
• Bachelors Degree

Additional Qualifications
• Must obtain specialty certification (FP-C) within two years of hire date
• Must obtain Transport Provider Advanced Trauma Course certification (TPATC) within one year of hire date
• Successfully complete Neonatal Resuscitation Provider orientation

Working Conditions and Physical Environment
• Days, weekends, evenings available with both 12-hour and 24-hour shifts
• Must be able to lift 75 lbs.
• Must be able to provider medical care within the confines of a helicopter

Riley County EMS is looking to expand its PRN Personnel roster to meet the needs of our increasingly busy service. At Riley County EMS PRN Personnel are responsible for staffing routine and short notice openings on shift as well as staffing a variety of local events. We participate in over 2,000 hours of EMS Standbys in and around the Manhattan area each year, ranging from Kansas State Athletics to Kicker Country Stampede, and we count on PRN staff to supplement those operations. We desire candidates with an interest in general EMS operations as well as participating in a variety of unique and exciting standbys.
We employ a full time Director, Assistant Director, and Clinical Operations Officer. We staff 4 ALS ambulances based out of 3 stations, 2 of which are shared with Manhattan Fire Department and average 4,800 calls for service annually.
PRN Paramedics start at $15.68/hr, PRN AEMT’s $13.50, PRN EMTs start at $13.02, and all are eligible for an $8/hr bonus while staffing special events along with overtime at 1.5 times the base pay rate for any hours worked over a weekly 40 threshold.
