This position meets all the requirements set forth by the Kansas Board of EMS for the position of MICT Paramedic. The Paramedic is expected to meet the urgent health care needs of all patients regardless of age or co-morbidity, consistent with their defined scope of practice. The Paramedic must be able to exercise considerable judgment, problem-solving, and decision making skills. The Paramedic provides out-of-hospital medical care to those with urgent needs, and is a component of the overall healthcare system. The Paramedic delivers care as part of a system intended to decrease the morbidity associated with sudden illness and injury. Work is performed under general supervision of the EMS Chief, Assistant Chief and/or Battalion Chief.

Kansas Paramedic Certification required. High School Diploma or GED required. Current & valid Kansas MICT certificate, CPR/BLS provider certification, ACLS certification, Class C operator’s license are required. Two to three years related experience or training required. CPR certification required.
May use equipment (based on competency level) such as but not limited to, defibrillator, electrocardiograph, performs endotracheal intubation to open airways and ventilate patient, inflate pneumatic anti-shock garment to improve patient’s blood circulation. Provide basic and advanced emergency medical care and transportation for critical and emergency patients that access the emergency medical system in a timely, professional and compassionate manner. Employee is expected to have acquired the necessary skills and knowledge to perform at an acceptable level within six months of being awarded the position.

Base Rate: $13.34 per hour depending on qualifications

Hours: Rotating 24-Hour Shifts, evenings, weekends, holidays are required. Overtime may be required.

Franklin County participates in the Kansas Public Employees Retirement System (KPERS & KP&F).

Grant County is accepting applications for the position of Emergency Medical Service Director.

Under the general supervision of County Commissioners, the EMS Director performs administrative and field duties to provide emergency care and critical care transportation. Supervising the management of the department, budget administration, and resolving personnel issues and citizen concerns are the primary responsibilities of this position. This position is responsible for the operation of all ambulances, medical equipment, and overseeing Ambulance Station building needs. This employee should possess a strong organizational and management aptitude, with excellent communication and public relation skills.

The desired candidate is required to have three to five years of similar or related experience.

The Wellington Fire & EMS Department is accepting applications for Firefighter/EMT or Firefighter/Paramedic position. Applicants must be currently certified as a Kansas EMT or will be certified as a paramedic by July 2017. Applicants must be an IFSAC or Pro Board certified Firefighter I or the ability to obtain that certification within 12 months. Interviews and physical ability test will be scheduled shortly after the application deadline.

Starting base salary for a Firefighter/EMT is $33,476, and Firefighter/Paramedic is $40,576. There is a salary step increase after 6 months based on evaluation.

Wellington Fire & EMS employs 20 full time personnel. The department responds on an average to 1400 EMS calls and 1200 fire calls annually. Staff work 24 hour shifts and must reside within 15 miles of the fire station within 6 months.

The employee in this position performs emergency life-saving services and fire scene management in the performance of their duties. This employee should be in excellent physical condition and have the ability to remain poised under extremely difficult and hazardous circumstances. This employee should possess a strong organizational and management aptitude, with excellent communication and public relation skills.

The desired candidate is required to be a state board certified Paramedic/Firefighter (Instructor/Trainer preferred) with a minimum of five years’ experience, (three of which are supervisory in nature) with a minimum education requirement of an Associate’s Degree in Health or Fire Science or a related field.

Thomas County EMS is currently accepting applications for full time Paramedics, AEMTs, and EMTs. Licensed EMT candidates wishing employment with Thomas County EMS should be willing to enroll in and complete AEMT or Paramedic training at the earliest opportunity. Thomas County is located 50 miles east of Colorado and 50 miles south of Nebraska on the high plains of western Kansas. Thomas County EMS covers 1000 square miles with an ALS system that generates 800+ calls per year with stations in Colby, Brewster and Rexford. You will be working in a combination career/volunteer system responding to both 911 and inter-facility transfers. We seek highly motivated persons who enjoy, and are comfortable with, patient care situations which may extend up to 3 hours.

Thomas County EMS shifting is 24 on, 48 off, 16 on, 72 off model. Additional call hours outside of regular shifting as well as inter-facility transfers and standbys provide an opportunity for overtime. Salary is commensurate with experience. KPERS, Health and Dental (single 100% paid), 457b, paid sick leave and vacation earned at 8 hours per month round out the benefit package. In house continuing education including AHA and NAEMT classes is provided through Thomas County EMS Education.
