Under the supervision of the Director of Emergency Services and the Deputy Director of EMS, the EMT is responsible for providing emergency health care to the Jefferson County residents and visitors. Performs the following duties:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Performs all the authorized activities of an emergency medical technician as described in K.S.A. 65-6121, and amendments thereto;
• Performs cardiopulmonary resuscitation and SAED application and usage in a patient without pulse and not breathing;
• Prepares daily reports and updates statistical database.
• Responsible for cleaning, restocking and maintaining the EMS Unit during scheduled shifts; especially following a call

MARGINAL FUNCTIONS

• Attends meetings and trainings, as required;

Education or Experience:
High School Diploma or GED; and one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. A valid Kansas Driver’s License is required. Current certification as a Kansas Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) is required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of:
• Current CPR certification;
• Radio communications and mechanical maintenance and related concerns;
• Familiarity with pre-hospital medications and their usage;
Ability to:
• Operate emergency vehicles, Ohm/Amp/Voltage meters;
• Prioritize work and apply problem-solving skills to resolve problems;
Skills:
• Must possess excellent oral and written communication, and interpersonal skills.

The City of Great Bend has full-time FF/EMS openings. If you have been searching for a rewarding, hands-on career, now is the time to apply! This position responds to emergency situations including fires, persons trapped, hazardous conditions, and medical emergencies. This position will also inspect equipment daily, conduct safety training for the community, inspects fire hydrants, and completes all necessary training.

After completion of the training period, this position will work 24-hour shifts. Weekend and holiday work is required. Firefighters are expected to respond to major emergency calls when off duty.

Aptitude and physical tests and background investigations will be conducted and after the interview process for qualified candidates, job offers will be contingent on pre-employment physical ability testing and drug screening.

The requirements of the position are as follows: Valid Kansas driver’s license, high school diploma or GED is required and as well as training as an EMT, Paramedic and/or Fire Science. The ideal candidate will have the ability to read and interpret written instructions and have strong communication skills.

FIRE MEDICAL DEPARTMENT
STARTING SALARY: $14.10 PER HOUR
Upon Recruit Graduation $15.16 per hour For FF/AEMT
$16.43 per hour For FF/Paramedic

RESPONSIBILITIES: An employee in this class performs specialized firefighting and emergency medical duties under emergency conditions. Work is performed under the direct supervision of superior officers but requires thorough individual understanding of firefighting methods and emergency medical procedures. The employee is responsible for assisting in maintenance of fire and emergency medical equipment, response apparatus and crew quarters. Performance is evaluated by the department officers’ observation.

The position of Extra-Board Firefighter serves as a paid, part-time employee who must report to duty if called upon on assigned days. There is no guarantee of hours beyond classes and training. The position of Extra-Board Firefighter acts as the hiring list for future full-time Firefighter openings with the City of Lawrence.

QUALIFICATIONS: Must be at least 18 years of age, have a High School diploma or G.E.D and be Kansas or National Registry EMT or Paramedic. Paramedic preferred but not required. Must possess a valid Candidate Physical Abilities Test (CPAT) at time of application. This position requires a valid operator’s license with qualifying driving record, and the ability to obtain a Class B or equivalent license within six months of employment. Must demonstrate mental and physical health as required by position; and have an excellent work history and attendance record as determined by previous employer and other reference checks. The successful applicant will be required to pass a background check, drug screen and a post-offer medical evaluation in accordance with the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 1582 chapter 6.1.1. Upon hire the Extra-Board Firefighter must sign a No Tobacco Use Agreement.

Republic County EMS is accepting applications for a full time and/or part time Paramedic/AEMT/EMT. Republic County EMS is a type 1 service located in the City of Belleville providing service to the entire Republic County.

Pottawatomie County EMS is expanding its coverage area and will be adding 58 square miles of coverage area which will encompass all of the county including areas inside the city limits of Manhattan. We will be expecting an annual call volume over 2,000 calls a year and operating out of 5 separate stations. This action will include new personnel (six full time positions). We are looking for Paramedic’s, AEMT, and EMT’s to join our team! We also are always looking for part time staff!

These position(s) work a 48/96 rotation. Enjoy the opportunity to work 48 hours followed by 96 hours off – then the shift repeats. Pottawatomie County does NOT have a residency requirement for EMS personnel. Pottawatomie County EMS currently has 4 stations and will be opening a 5th station, located throughout the county. PCEMS provides 911 and non-emergent response and transports. We have also have taken delivery of a new Type 1 Ambulance and will have the delivery of 2 type II units in May.
