Under general direction, oversees Clinical and Education Services activities for the local service area. Represents AMR to local committees, medical and training institutions, and other related agencies. Responsible for the creation, implementation, and tracking of education programs.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Licensing/Certification: High School Diploma or GED required; Bachelor’s degree or higher preferred. The following certifications are preferred: BTLS Provider or State of Kansas Instructor certification, ACLS Instructor certification and PALS Instructor certification. Current State Certification as a Paramedic. Acceptable driving record.

Experience: Minimum of 5-7 years experience in the direct delivery of pre-hospital advanced life support as a Paramedic. Experience in performing, evaluating, instructing, and coaching all aspects of the delivery of pre-hospital care

This is a full time exempt position which reports directly to the Trego County Board of County Commissioners.

Trego County EMS responds to 450 calls per year with half being 911 and half being inter-facility transfers. As a Kansas 2A service, Trego County EMS has 4 career staff and 21 part time staff with skills ranging between EMT, AEMT, Paramedic, RN, and Physician Assistant. Our nearest Trauma Center is a level III in Hays, KS and our closes level I Trauma Center is in Wichita, KS.

Trego County is seeking an experienced Paramedic to lead this dynamic group.

As part of the employment agreement the Trego County Board of County Commissioners will require the EMS Director to reside within 5 minutes of the station at 525 Warren Ave. WaKeeney, KS.

Thomas County EMS is accepting applications for a Paramedic or AEMT to fill a staff vacancy as well as establish a pool for future vacancies or positions. Consideration will also be given to a qualified EMT applicant who is currently enrolled in a Paramedic or AEMT program with the expectation of program completion as a condition of continued employment. Additional preference will be given to applicants who possess I/C or TO certification in the State of Kansas.
Thomas County is located 50 miles from Colorado and 50 miles from Nebraska on the high plains of western Kansas. Thomas County EMS covers 1000 square miles with a type 2A system that generates 700+ calls per year with three stations. You will be working in a combination career/volunteer system responding to both 911 and inter-facility transfers. We seek highly motivated persons who enjoy, and are comfortable with, patient care situations which may extend up to 3 hours.
Our current shifting is a 12 hour (0600-1800 or 1800-0600) 3 day on, 3 day off model with additional on call hours. Additional call hours outside of regular shifting as well as inter-facility transfers provide an opportunity for overtime. Salary is commensurate with experience. KPERS, Health and Dental (single 100% paid) and vacation earned at 8 hours per month round out the benefit package. In house continuing education including AHA classes is provided through Thomas County EMS Education.
