04/24/2015 Wellington Fire & EMS  Firefighter/Paramedic

The Wellington Fire & EMS Department is accepting applications for Firefighter/Paramedic.  Applicants must be currently certified as a Paramedic or will complete Paramedic class in May 2015.  Applicants must be a certified Firefighter I or the ability to obtain that certification within 9 months.   Applicants must attend a physical ability test or a current CPAT will be accepted.  Applicants must pass a written test administered by Hutchinson Community College with a 70% score.  Interviews and physical ability test will be scheduled shortly after the application deadline.   Starting annual salary is $40,533 with a salary step increase after 6 months.  A total of 268 hours of scheduled overtime annually is possible in addition to the annual salary.
Wellington Fire & EMS employs 18 full time personnel, and two administrative staff.  The department responds on an average to 1300 EMS calls and 1100 fire calls annually.  Staff work 24 hour shifts and must reside within 15 minutes of the fire station within 6 months.
The City of Wellington offers KP& F retirement, 10 paid holidays, vacation, Christmas savings plan, sick time incentive, and  opportunities for overtime.  The city pays the employee share of health insurance.

01/09/2015 Johnson County Med-Act POSITION TITLE: Battalion Chief – Training – $72,168 – $99,231 annually

The Battalion Chief Training (BCT) provides continuing education for providers in the organization.  They assist in the evaluation of current employees, as well as the orientation of new employees and their ongoing development.  They conduct research, assist with purchasing and deploying new equipment to the field after training.  They assist with implementing new programs, suggesting changes in procedures and protocols as necessary for improved patient care.  BCT’s are part of the response team for serious emergencies such as major trauma and cardiac arrest on designated field days.  They respond to emergency calls to fulfill needs for additional expertise.  BCTs assist with coordinating response to multiple casualty incidents and disasters.  BCT’s also maintain associations with communities of interest that have an impact on emergency patient care, such as physicians, nurses, hospitals, state and national EMS associations and other entities appropriate to EMS patient care.

The EMT is expected to meet the urgent health care needs of all patients regardless of age or co-morbidity, consistent with their defined scope of practice.  The EMT is a unique healthcare professional in that they provide medical care and transportation in and out-of-hospital settings with medical oversight.  Therefore the EMT must be able to exercise considerable judgment, problem-solving, and decision making skills.  The EMT provides out-of-hospital medical care to those with urgent needs, and is a component of the overall healthcare system.  The EMT delivers care as part of a system intended to decrease the morbidity associated with sudden illness and injury.  Work is performed under general supervision of the EMS Chief, Assistant Chief, and/or Battalion Chief who reviews work methods and results through reports and inspections.

Norton County has full-time openings for Paramedic, AEMT and EMT. Norton County is a Type IIA service with approximately 500 calls a year.Seeking motivated and dedicated individuals to work in the rural setting and comfortable taking care of patients for long transport times.Norton is located in NW Kansas at the intersection of Hwy 283 and Hwy 36.Full time schedule is 48 on, 48 off, 96 on, / 48 off, 48 on, 96 off rotation. These shifts are 12 hours at the station, 12 hours on call from home within each 24 hours period.Full-time employees typically average 16-20 hours of overtime per pay period, paid at time and a half. Plus paid per call after hours of at least time and half.The applicant must have good communication skills and work well with a variety of health care professionals with varying degrees of experience.
