POSITION INFORMATION 

Full-time Firefighters work on a regularly scheduled 24 hour shift providing emergency service to the community.  There is no differentiation between fire and EMS positions at our department; everyone is cross-trained and responds to all types of incidents.

Minimum qualifications include current Kansas Paramedic Certification or must obtain within 180 days of hire.

Starting annual base salary approximately

$43,500 – $52,500  Depending on Qualifications.

Benefits include:

(13) 24 hour days of vacation & (13) 24 hour days of sick leave per year plus 24 hours of Birthday Leave.

DEPARTMENT INFORMATION 

The Potawatomi Tribal Fire Department is located in the heart of the Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation Reservation in Mayetta Kansas just 25 minutes north of Topeka.   We provide 24 hour around the clock fire protection, rescue service, and advanced life support emergency medical care to the residents and guests of the PBPN Reservation.  The department regularly responds mutual aid with neighboring Jackson County fire departments.  We are staffed with 22 full-time personnel with 21 working rotating 24 hour shifts as well as 8 part-time and reserve personnel. We operate on a Kelly A-B-C schedule that coincides with most departments in Shawnee County Kansas.  All of our personnel are certified EMTs, Advanced EMTS, or Paramedics.  The department runs approximately 1600 calls per year out of our single station.  Apparatus includes an engine, a 105 foot platform aerial, rescue pumper, pumper-tanker, 2 brush units, an ATV, 2 ALS ambulances, a technical rescue truck, and various administrative and support vehicles.

07/15/2015 Kingman EMS Full-time Paramedic

The City of Kingman is accepting applications for the position of full-time paramedic. Kingman EMS is a progressive Type IIA service that covers 720sq miles of Kingman County with a projected 2015 call volume of 750 calls.

Kingman is located just 30 minutes west of Wichita on U.S. Hwy 54. This position does require residency within the Kingman city limits with a flexible time limit upon hiring. The full-time position is based on 40 hour work weeks (4 – 10 hour days) with required call time during the overnight hours. Full-time employees typically average 10-15 hours of unscheduled overtime per pay period, paid at time and a half.

The qualified applicant must have good communication skills and work well with a variety of health care professionals with varying degrees of experience. The qualified applicant will often times be staffed with lower certifications including the level of EMR, and must be comfortable with prolonged transport times of critical patients in a rural setting. The applicant should also be comfortable working with liberal protocols.

Qualified candidates will need to have a valid driver’s license, high school diploma or equivalent, and Kansas certification as a paramedic. Current paramedic students nearing the end of his or her program may be considered. ACLS and PALS is preferred and required after hire. Candidates must pass KBI background check, pre-employment physical, and urine drug screen.

07/15/2015 Hoisington EMS Full-time EMS Attendant

The City of Hoisington is accepting applications for the position of Full Time EMS Attendant.  This position reports to the EMS Director.  Normal working hours will vary based on the needs of the department. This position may be subject to on-call time.

 The Attendant is responsible for billing, clerical tasks, maintenance, and customer service. The Attendant also provides medical evaluation, medical treatment, patient care and carries out other duties as required.  A complete job description is available upon request.  Please contact the department director through the information included below.

 The successful candidate must have a current certification level of no less than EMT and a valid driver’s license with Kansas driving privileges.  The preferred candidate would have a certification as an AEMT or paramedic and would also have experience working with a volunteer service.  The successful applicant must establish residence within one mile of the City of Hoisington within six months of hire and must complete a pre-employment physical, drug screen and background investigation.

 Beginning wage range for this position is $12.00-15.00 per hour for those capable and willing to accept all duties of an Advance Life Support technician.  Previous experience and certifications may be considered in determining the starting wage.  The employee will also be eligible for the City benefit package.
