The Wellington Fire & EMS Department is accepting applications for Firefighter/Paramedic, Firefighter/AEMT or Firefighter/EMT. Applicants may be currently enrolled in a paramedic or EMT class. Pre-employment tests are required. Firefighter/EMT applicants will be required to attend paramedic or AEMT class 1 year after hire. Training costs are paid by the department, and paid time to attend class. Average starting salary for a Firefighter/Paramedic is $59,197, Firefighter/AEMT is $55,488 and for Firefighter/EMT is $52,919 this includes salary, FLSA overtime and holiday time. Salary step increase after 6 months and 1 year. Lateral movement is available.Wellington Fire & EMS employs 18 full time personnel, 3 part time and 2 administrative staff. The department responds on an average to 2600 EMS calls and 1700 fire calls annually. Staff work 24 hour shifts and must reside within 30 miles of the fire station.

Pottawatomie County Emergency Medical Services (PCEMS) provides full-time advanced life support ambulance service to one of the fastest growing counties in Kansas. PCEMS covers over 800 square miles of diverse territory to include Pottawatomie County within the city limits of Manhattan, KS.Our team members work a “48/96” rotation which enables them to enjoy the opportunity to work 48 hours followed by 96 hours off – then the shift repeats. Pottawatomie County does NOT have a residency requirement for EMS personnel. Pottawatomie County EMS currently staffs 5 ambulance stations and responds to over 2,000 calls for service annually.As a PCEMS team member you’ll enjoy a positive working atmosphere and modern equipment such as Zoll cardiac monitors, power cots with the power load system, and Auto-Pulse’s. Along with the many Pottawatomie County employee benefits is the Kansas Police and Fire (KP&F) retirement plan.

Full-time and PRN Shifts Available.
17.54 – 21.93 per hour DOE.

Position Responsibilities: Provides emergency medical treatment in a pre-hospital setting, performing basic and advanced life support to the sick and injured.
Education Required: A high school diploma, GED, or equivalent, or graduation from a vocational school is preferred. Must be Kansas Certified and/or hold National Registration as a Paramedic
Special Requirements: Valid driver’s license.
