The Johnson County Emergency Management and Communications (EMC) department is recruiting for an EMS Clinical Practice Coordinator. This position creates, maintains and administers a comprehensive credentialing program for EMS providers who provide patient care in the EMS System. This position assists in creating new clinical registries and supports existing clinical registries maintained at the Medical Director Program. This position participates in EMS research activities as well as assists the EMS Medical Director Program Manager with QA/CQI and peer review/event investigation related activities. Additional duties include:
• Assists in the development, maintenance, and administration of the EMS System provider credentialing program; coordinates and assists with creating validated competency examinations and proctors/administers exams; creates high-fidelity simulation scenarios, skills objectives and processes for verifying competency; tracks and maintains provider credentialing portfolios and websites; procures equipment and maintains credentialing program data.
• Creates new clinical registries and supports existing clinical registries maintained; contributes to and supports the quality assurance and CQI program; provides assistance to peer review/event investigation related activities.
• Develops, creates, modifies, and edits educational content and distance education through various platforms; collaborates with EMS System Educators; coordinates quarterly skills and simulation preparation for training with EMS and Fire agencies.
• Researches content and suggests EMS initiatives to maintain high quality of EMS system services; reviews EMS journals; proposes changes to clinical standards and practices based on evidence-based medicine and EMS System needs.

Job Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Education, Nursing, Public Health, Public Administration, Clinical Research or other relevant field of study; (3) years Nursing, Paramedic, providing training or relevant experience and a valid driver’s license.
A Master’s degree in Education, Nursing, Public Health, Public Administration, Clinical Research or other relevant field of study is preferred.
Experience may substitute for education and education may substitute for experience.

This position meets all the requirements set forth by the Kansas Board of EMS for the position of Paramedic. The Paramedic is expected to meet the urgent health care needs of all patients regardless of age or co-morbidity, consistent with their defined scope of practice. The Paramedic must be able to exercise considerable judgment, problem-solving, and decision making skills. The Paramedic provides out-of-hospital medical care to those with urgent needs, and is a component of the overall healthcare system. The Paramedic delivers care as part of a system intended to decrease the morbidity associated with sudden illness and injury. Work is performed under general supervision of the EMS Chief, Assistant Chief, Division Chief, and/or Captain.

Kansas Paramedic Certification required. High School Diploma or GED required. Current & valid CPR/BLS provider certification, ACLS certification, Class C operator’s license are required. Two to three years related experience or training required. CPR certification required.

May use equipment (based on competency level) such as but not limited to, defibrillator, electrocardiograph, performs endotracheal intubation to open airways and ventilate patient, inflate pneumatic anti-shock garment to improve patient’s blood circulation.

Provide basic and advanced emergency medical care and transportation for critical and emergency patients that access the emergency medical system in a timely, professional and compassionate manner.

Employee is expected to have acquired the necessary skills and knowledge to perform at an acceptable level within six months of being awarded the position.

Base Rate: $32,756 annually depending on qualifications

Franklin County participates in the Kansas Public Employees Retirement System (KPERS & KP&F).

Hours: Wednesdays & Fridays 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Sundays 24 hour shift starting at 8 a.m.; Overtime may be required.

SUMMARY:

• Provide staff counseling and guidance and information regarding AMR operations
• Promptly investigates incidents involving assigned units or personnel, including filing of internal and external reports and counseling staff
• Ensure maintenance of adequate levels of staffing, equipment and medical supplies for field units
• Implement and enforce company policies and standards
• Maintain communication with other agencies and departments
• Serve on committees with other departments to set policies and generate ideas
• Perform other related duties as required
• Prepare reports and manages projects as assigned by Operations Manager or Director of Operations
• Maintain availability during disaster situations or mass casualty incidents and assist in any capacity as needed
• Attend scheduled meetings as required by the Operations Manager

Coffey County EMS is a progressive, hospital based, Advanced Life Support service that runs approximately 1400 calls per year out of one station. Being in a rural area, our critical care transport times can be anywhere from 15 to 90 minutes, which will challenge your critical thinking skills. We also help out in the hospital as members of the Rapid Response Team. CCEMS has two crews on duty at all times, and works 24 hour shifts consisting of 24 hours on, 24 hours off, 24 hours on, 24 hours off, 24 hours on, 96 hours off. We have no on-call policy or living restrictions. Shifts begin and end at 7 a.m.
