The City of Neodesha is currently accepting applications for the position of Firefighter/Paramedic or Firefighter/EMT. The Firefighter/Paramedic or Firefighter/EMT position is a non-exempt position under FLSA and is responsible for protecting lives and property of the public by performing fire suppression, technical rescues, hazardous material responses and providing emergency medical care. Our EMS is a progressive Ground ambulance service with liberal protocols for EMT’s AEMT’s and Paramedics. This employee should be in excellent physical condition and have the ability to remain poised under extremely difficult and hazardous circumstances. This employee should possess a strong mechanical aptitude and effective communication and public relations skills.
The employee must have a Kansas Paramedic Certification, Kansas EMT Certification or higher before employment, Higher consideration will be given to those who have additional certifications as a Firefighter 1 or 2

The applicant must have the following minimum eligibility requirements to be considered for these positions.
Be at least 18 years of age at the time of application.
Be a United States Citizen and able to prove legal ability to work within the United States
Be a High School graduate or possess a GED equivalency certificate
Most possess a valid Kansas drivers license and be able to obtain a Kansas Non-Commercial Class B drivers license within a year of employment
Have current Kansas certification as an EMT or higher issued by the Kansas Board of EMS

The Wellington Fire & EMS Department is accepting applications for individuals who are presently in paramedic class or who are interested in taking the paramedic class. Applicants must be currently certified as a Kansas EMT. The selected candidate if not in paramedic class will be required to start paramedic class six months after hire. Paramedic scholarship of $5,000 with a two year commitment to the department is available for paramedic class and department will allow time off for attendance. Applicants must be an IFSAC or Pro Board certified Firefighter I or the ability to obtain that certification within 16 months. Interviews and physical ability test will be scheduled shortly after the application deadline. Starting base salary for a Firefighter/EMT is $34,824, Firefighter/Paramedic is $42,041. Six month raise based on evaluation and a 2.5% salary increase is budgeted for the year 2020. There is FLSA and call in overtime available.
Wellington Fire & EMS employs 20 full time personnel. The department responds on an average to 2000 EMS calls and 1300 fire calls annually. Staff work 24 hour shifts and must reside within 20 miles of the fire station within 6 months.

Coffey County EMS, a division of Coffey Health System, is accepting applications for the position of full-time AEMT. We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated individual to join our team. CCEMS is a progressive, hospital based, Type 1 service that runs approximately 1600 calls per year out of 1 station. We have no on call policy or living restrictions. CCEMS works 48/96 schedule.

The qualified applicant must have good communication skills and work well with a variety of health care professionals. The qualified applicant will be paired with a seasoned Paramedic and should be comfortable with liberal protocols. Responsibilities
Our Flight Paramedic is responsible for the safety of patients prior to and during transport to medical care facilities. • PHTLS, ITLS, ATLS, or TPATC
• Must adhere to all OSHA requirements
• Current driver’s license (EVOC if operating a company emergency response vehicle)

Preferred

Riley County EMS is looking to expand its PRN Personnel roster to meet the needs of our increasingly busy service. At Riley County EMS PRN Personnel are responsible for staffing routine and short notice openings on shift as well as staffing a variety of local events. We participate in over 2,000 hours of EMS Standbys in and around the Manhattan area each year, ranging from Kansas State Athletics to Kicker Country Stampede, and we count on PRN staff to supplement those operations. We desire candidates with an interest in general EMS operations as well as participating in a variety of unique and exciting standbys.
We employ a full time Director, Assistant Director, and Clinical Operations Officer. We staff 4 ALS ambulances based out of 3 stations, 2 of which are shared with Manhattan Fire Department and average 4,800 calls for service annually.
PRN Paramedics start at $15.68/hr, PRN AEMT’s $13.50, PRN EMTs start at $13.02, and all are eligible for an $8/hr bonus while staffing special events along with overtime at 1.5 times the base pay rate for any hours worked over a weekly 40 threshold.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The following list represents the primary responsibilities of a Paramedic. The relative importance of these responsibilities may vary from region to region and should be discussed by each Paramedic with his/her supervisor.
• Assess each call situation to determine best course of action and appropriate protocol.
• Utilize medical equipment and procedures including defibrillator, EKG monitor, oxygen and suction devices, intravenous fluids, CPR and other procedures and medications as required to provide advanced medical care.
• Develop and utilize triage skills to provide optimal efficiency during calls.
• Provide patient care according to clinical protocols and safety requirements.
• Lift and move patients as required to provide optimum care.
• Communicate with receiving facility to receive medical direction and to provide critical information.
• Communicate with patient and loved ones to provide information and assurance that care is being given, and to show compassion.
• Act as team leader and take responsibility for scene management as needed.
• Drive the ambulance and provide map reading support to minimize call response time.
• Keep current on certifications.
• Coach and educate partners of new and changing information as necessary.
• Communicate with dispatcher to receive and understand call data and customer feedback.
• Monitor and maintain the general condition of the unit, keep it clean and stocked for optimal call response to maintain the image of AMR.
• Adhere to all company policies and procedures.
• Ability to work past scheduled shift with little or no notice.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Must be able to work 48-hour rotating shifts
High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
Must be at least 18 years of age.
State of Kansas Paramedic Certification
Must not have any clinical or operational issues within the past twelve (12) months. Possess a valid Driver’s License
Driving record in compliance with AMR policy regarding insurability
Current ACLS
PALS no later than 12/31/2019 (Training available after hire)

• Maintains thorough familiarity with treatment protocols, response requirements and quality assurance procedures in system in which assigned
• Maintains awareness of any and all changes in the system components and company policy.
• Maintains the level and type of certification(s) consistent with performing tasks in the system to which assigned.
• Complies with all state and company requirements for operation of motor vehicle.
• Operates a company vehicle in accordance with company policy and safe practices
• Develops ability to quickly and safely locate addresses through knowledge of number systems and street layouts
• Ensures that unit remains in a state of readiness in terms of mechanical reliability, medical supply and equipment, cleanliness and appearance standards.
• Reports immediately to the Lead Paramedic any discrepancies in vehicle or equipment standards that could compromise the unit’s ability to complete a call
• Reports all problems and unusual occurrences immediately to the Lead Paramedic or Supervisor
• Maintains a professional appearance by adhering to hygiene and uniform standards.
