Stakeholder Meeting – Draft Regulations for Non-Transport Agencies and Sponsoring Organizations

The Kansas EMS Association (KEMSA) and the Kansas State Firefighters Association (KSFFA) in conjunction with the Kansas Board of EMS (KSBEMS) is soliciting input on newly proposed regulations. Kansas EMS Stakeholder meetings will be hosted on November 19, 2019 to gather input proposed regulation. Two specific regulatory topics are being discussed at the Kansas Board of EMS. It is important for all agencies to be aware of the proposed changes and to offer feedback.

9:00 am to 10:30 am –Sponsoring Organization Regulation Discussion

Proposed Regulation of Sponsoring Organizations for Initial and Continuing education. New regulations impacting the requirement for sponsoring organizations for initial and continuing education provider were discussed at the October KSBEMS meeting. It is important for all stakeholders to review and offer input on the changes early in the process.

10:30 am – 12:30 pm – Non-transport Agency Regulation Discussion

Proposed statutory and regulatory oversight of non-transport EMS agencies. The KSBEMS currently has regulatory authority over EMS agencies that provide transport, the propose regulation would extend the oversight to include first response agencies. The goal is to ensure quality care is provided by all emergency medical response agencies. The proposed changes would be at the statutory and regulatory level. It is important to have feedback from all the agencies that will be impacted.
